That thrill you get when a performer pulls off something spectacular, particularly tricky, unexpected and inventive...

Those who studied under the best practitioners and were true “naturals” from an early age are most likely to be able to follow in the masters’ footsteps. As a teenager, Sara Ski set out to study psychology but could not ignore the tug at her sleeve - and inner self – that led her on a very different path. As a schoolgirl she was a promising gymnast, and the roll and tumble of life threw her in another direction.

She learned acrobatics and juggling, and finding clowning and physical comedy, was comfortably happy with both.

She studied with the best at the Acacdemia di Arti Circensi in Verona and credits internationally-renowned Mooky Cornish - a legend on the circuit - for the quality instruction and insights. Sara cannot pin down precisely when she became a fully-fledged circus all-rounder, but knows she was helped on her way through the International School of Arts in Beijing. In more recent times she honed her know-how further while under the wing of the legendary Anatoly Zalevsky, with his RIZOMA collective in Ukraine.

…and all the while, she travelled the world and learned more whenever the call came to join another troupe or take part in the next stunning production.

While the pay packet comes from touring as far afield as Australia, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland and Ireland, she always insisted on volunteering with Clowns Without Borders, bringing welcome temporary wonder and escapism to the displaced and forgotten in many refugee camps.

Italian by birth but Polish in character, having spent extended chapters of her childhood there, home, these days is “wherever I am in that particular moment.” Sara has many “characters” and the one winning most recent acclaim is conductor of joy-filled mayhem Dr Skita, whose scatty “front” betrays a set of exceptional and hugely entertaining performance skills. Expect clowning and slapstick, juggling and hair-raising balancing interspersed with interactive accordion playing…and audience participation!
